CIRCULA®
Circula® is a bioelectronic thromboprophylaxis platform activating the calf muscle pump via targeted NMES. Its patented Smart Search™ technology uses electrode-sensor feedback to identify optimal stimulation points, overcoming key limitations of conventional NMES: manual setup and user discomfort. Circula® enables non-invasive prevention across hospital and home settings.
The Challenges and Needs
Modern lifestyles keep us sitting more than ever — and our bodies are paying the price. Prolonged sitting is sometimes described as “the new smoking” in public health discussions, reflecting concerns about inactivity and disease risk. The World Health Organization highlights insufficient physical activity as a major global health issue. The calf muscles act as a “second heart,” helping push blood back to the heart with every step. That's why it's so important to try to take at least 10,000 steps each day, preferably spread out throughout the day, to keep the blood flowing. When immobilized or sitting still, the calf muscle pump does not work.
Venous thromboembolism (VTE), often beginning as silent deep vein thrombosis (DVT), causes approximately 540,000 preventable hospital-related deaths annually in Europe. Current prevention methods remain inadequate: anticoagulants increase bleeding risk, compression stockings show limited effectiveness and poor adherence, and intermittent pneumatic compression (IPC) devices are bulky and impractical outside hospitals. Meanwhile, 1.8 billion inactive adults face impaired circulation and rising cardiovascular risk, yet no standard wearable solution effectively supports circulation from hospital to home.
We have developed a Patented Smart Search algorithm and the product CIRCULA® that,
Identifies the lack of physical activity,
Searches the relevant area for the most efficient and comfortable motor points, and
Stimulates exactly where it gives the most effect with the least current.
Circula® is a lightweight, affordable, cable-free bioelectronic thromboprophylaxis platform integrating hardware, smart textiles, and software to restore circulation.

Explore How It Works
Watch Circula® in action in the video above.
Circula® operates through a four-step closed-loop cycle: detect inactivity, search for optimal electrode configuration via 3D impedance mapping, stimulate the calf muscle, and adapt stimulation in real time. This helps to deliver physiologically accurate calf contractions to enhance circulation during inactivity. Continuous feedback on the design, ensures safe, comfortable, and effective therapy across diverse user anatomies.
Circula® uniquely combines clinical-grade haemodynamic efficacy with real-world usability. Unlike hospital-bound IPC systems or wired NMES devices, Circula® is wearable, automated, and designed for continuous use across hospital and home settings. Unlike consumer circulation devices, it provides precision-targeted calf-pump activation supported by automated configuration selection and adaptive control.
